Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), one of the nine Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011, with motto “Innovation and Character for National Transformation” is an ICT-driven university. As her mission, FUOYE aspires to become an institution of first choice recognized for providing critical opportunities for student success; acknowledged as a primary and engaged regional and global resource for entrepreneurial educational and best practices in mining and farming technologies; and valued as a university where there are faculty, students, and professional staff who are active in integrating cutting-edge technology in multidisciplinary and disciplinary research.


Federal University Oye-Ekiti, whose firstVice Chancellor, is Professor Chinedu Ositadinma Nebo, OON, has two campuses located at Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti. The University, started with 512 student’s population in 2012, has four Faculties and 27 Departments, state-of-the art learning facilities, including ICT infrastructure, classrooms, laboratories and expansive land available for agricultural research and business development.


As an ICT-driven university, FUOYE has 20 Mbps of Internet bandwidth, making her one of the highest per capita Internet bandwidth of 40 Mbps per 1000. Also, she has over 200 computing devices, which is more than one per two students for teaching, learning and research, as well as working on a global classroom with a ubiquitous, always-on wireless network in the two campuses.

The University has library facilities in the two campuses of Oye- Ekiti and Ikole campuses with digital library ubiquitous access. Students have access to over 5000 book volumes, hard copy journals and thousands of online journals. There are comprehensive Health Centres in the two campuses, providing medical services to both staff and students. For sports, FUOYE set out to become a major contender in collegiate sports.
